School/Parent Compact
2016-2017

We are partners in helping students achieve the State’s high academic standards. The following are roles and responsibilities that we will carry out to support student success in school and in life.

Student Pledge
I agree to carry out the following responsibilities to the best of my ability:
• Attend school regularly and be on time
• Come to school daily with paper, pencil, and other necessary tools for learning
• Work hard to do my best in class and on homework assignments
• Help keep my school safe and clean
• Ask for help when I need it
• Respect and cooperate with other students and adults
• Use positive, respectful ways of resolving conflicts

Family/Parent Pledge
I agree to carry out the following responsibilities to the best of my ability:
• Help my child attend school regularly and be on time
• Provide my child with paper, pencils, and other necessary tools for learning
• Provide a quiet time and place for study in our home and insure that homework is completed
• Promote the importance of reading by reading to my child and/or listening to him or her read
• Reinforce positive and respectful ways of resolving conflicts
• Communicate and work with teachers & school staff to support my child’s learning including volunteering when possible
• Provide current emergency telephone numbers in case of accident or illness

Staff Pledge
I agree to carry out the following responsibilities to the best of my ability:
• Provide challenging lessons and hands-on activities that promote student achievement
• Use materials and activities that are appropriate for your child’s needs
• Regularly communicate and work with families to support student’s learning. Student progress
communicated through P/T conferences twice per year, midterm reports, weekly folders,
scheduled meetings, and telephone calls
• Provide a safe and caring learning environment for children
• Help your children learn to resolve conflicts in a positive and respectful way. Staff will display respect
• Have high expectations and provide the opportunity for all students to meet Tennessee standards
• Participate in professional development opportunities that improve teaching and learning
• Determine the student’s educational needs and adjust the instruction to accommodate those needs
• Provide opportunities for volunteers at school. These will include Parent Council, volunteering
in classrooms, helping with school activities and home projects.
• Parent/Teacher conferences are held twice per year and more often as needed to discuss this compact, testing information, student goals and other concerns. Concerns and questions will be addressed ASAP.
